Krasnoyarsk is located in the heart of the biggest country in the world, it's divided into two parts by one of the world biggest rivers the Yenisey. Krasnoayrsk is one of the largest Siberian cities and is a cultural, industrial and academic centre. It's the place where satellites are assembled for the needs of both national and international space industry; here aluminium and gold are produced. It is a birthplace of a famous Russian artist Vasily Surikov, outstanding Russian writer Victor Astafiev, a legendary wrestler Ivan Yarygin and a world-known singer Dmitry Khvorostovskiy.

Krasnoyarsk is famous as a place of richest natural resources: oil, gas and coal are mined here, and out of 70 currently known metals 63 are available in Krasnoyarsk deposits; in addition we can boast thick and vast natural forests and pure water. Amid unique Nature, the city lives its active business and cultural life. It annually hosts Krasnoyarsk economic forum (KEF) which attracts more than 5,000 visitors from 20 countries of the world and 50 regions within Russia. The city's cultural life offers 8 repertoire theatres, experimental theatrical sites, a local circus, numerous concert halls, digital and traditional libraries, museums and art galleries.

Multi-ethnic and multi-confessional city harmoniously accommodates Christian churches with Muslim mosques, synagogues with a Hindu temple.

Hospitable local population is always happy to treat their guests with something special, among local specialities are lingonberry (or cowberry) served with local honey and pine nuts, northern kinds of river fish cooked by traditional recipes, pies with local bird cherry, juicy Siberian pelmeni (small (traditionally crescent-shaped) pasta cases, stuffed with seasoned meat boiled in water and usually served in a sauce) and herbal tea brewed from taiga herbs and berries. Krasnoyarsk is a very sporty place, especially in winter sports. Here are trained athletes in more than 150 sports, 100 sport federations are active in the city, 120 sport societies for younger and beginner athletes.

Krasnoyarsk boasts 1900 sport grounds and premises designated for developing sport activities. The Centre of extreme sports "Sportex" is the largest place of its kind in Europe. Big parks, equipped open spaces, ski slopes such as popular among local population fun-park "Bobrovy log" (Beaver den) and "Tatyshev island", are much favoured by citizens as they offer all facilities for active leisure all year round.

Krasnoyarsk is a vibrant and energetic place full of young people who take their education at 8 local universities. Students have become a significant part of the city development contributing to its creative and innovative spheres.
The Siberian Federal District is a territory of 5 144 953 square kilometers from the Ural Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, it has a large share from the all-Russian reserves: 85% of lead and titanium, 80% of coal and molybdenum, 71% of nickel, 69% of copper, 67% of zinc, 66% of manganese, 44% of silver, 36% % of tungsten, 20% of cement raw materials, 17% of phosphorites and titanium, 10% of iron ores, 8% of bauxites and tin, 6% of oil, and 4% of gas. The resources of the northern territories and the adjacent ocean shelf remain poorly researched.

The total area of the forest fund is 346 321.7 thousand hectares; including the area occupied by coniferous species – 187 161.3 thousand hectares. 19 326 196 people live in this vast territory, and the average population density is 2 people per 1 km². In Eastern Siberia, Baikal Lake is a unique natural site that contains about 1/5 of the world's fresh water reserves and 9/10 of Russian surface water reserves. It is the deepest lake in the world.

Siberia is a region that determines the global ecological situation, the global balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen, global climate change. The successful world experience in the development of "commodity regions", such as Alaska, the provinces of Canada, Australia and Norway, comparable in terms of climatic conditions and transport distance with the territories of Siberia, demonstrates that Siberia has global prospects for development.
